Dirk Nowitzki Injures Ankle and Knee

In case you missed it yesterday, Dirk Nowitzki injured his ankle and knee yesterday against the Spurs and could be out 2 weeks or more.

This is not good news for the Dallas Mavericks who have already been struggling lately and have games coming up against the Lakers, Hornets, Jazz, Warriors, and Suns to finish the season.

I suspect that if Dallas does make the playoffs they will be the 8 seed, however, it is quite possible that the Denver Nuggets could catch the Mavs for the final spot in the West. Denver also has some tough games coming up, so it is no guarantee they will be able to catch up to the Mavs.

If Dallas misses the playoffs, then it's possible they could win the lottery and be able to draft Michael Beasley. That would be incredible to add a player like Beasley to a playoff caliber team but it is highly unlikely. I wouldn't mind seeing it happen though because if Beasley ends up on a shitty team then nobody will ever get a chance to see him play, much like Kevin Durant.
