Stop The Violence - Prep Football Star Innocently Gunned Down

Sad story here about a young high school football star who was innocently gunned down while walking home from school. I guess this happened about 10 days ago but I just heard about it now. Bill Simmons attended the funeral and had a good commentary on the situation.

I live on the East Coast and any kind of gangs here don't really do random acts of violence like this. Usually when violence occurs there is a reason for it, I never understood what causes this type of activity on the West Coast.

We live by the code of you don't bother anyone and they won't bother you but it seems like in some places this is not the case. I mean if you get yourself involved in some messed up shit then you should expect whatever comes to you but if you are minding your business like this kid you shouldn't have to deal with this type of bullshit because of some meaningless gang. Hopefully one day these kids will realize how stupid it really is. You can't even argue that it is productive in any way shape of form, it's just destructive.

Definitely very sad but not uncommon in the world we live in, this case just happens to get some publicity but this stuff is happening every day in cities all over the country.
