I was shocked to learn that Doug Collins is going to be named the head coach of the Chicago Bulls. Collins hasn't coached since Michael Jordan was with the Wizards and I'm not sure he's the right guy for this job. Not to mention that Collins has already been the coach of the Bulls and was fired for reasons such as not being able to get a young team to play well together. ESPN's John Hollinger feels there are some reasons why he won't mesh well with the new Bulls roster either: pace, youth, and temperament. I would have thought that someone like Avery Johnson would have been perfect for this job but I guess Collins is their man, so we will see what happens. The NBA is finally doing something about the ridiculous flopping and will issues fines to players involved in clear cases of flopping. This seems kind of objective, so I would imagine it would prevent most players from even trying it. Now if only they could fine the refs for making bad calls. The NBA even admitted that a foul should have been called on the Brent Barry-Derek Fisher play from the other night.
Finally, in other coaching news, apparently the Sure are looking hard at Brian Shaw as their next potential coach and Shaq is backing the move.
