Orlando NBA Pre-Draft Camp - Day 2

Jeff Goodman over at FoxSports has been kind enough to post some of the Orlando Pre-Draft Camp stats from Day 2 on his blog. I'm sure DraftExpress will post some more in depth analysis and I will post the highlights of what they have to say as soon as possible.

Here are the abbreviated boxscores for each team that played on Day 2, with my analysis:

Team 6
Sean Singletary – 2 points (1-3 FG), 1 assist
Davon Jefferson – 7 points (3-7), 6 rebounds, 3 assists
Brian Butch – 10 points (4-11), 6 rebounds
Joey Dorsey – 7 points (3-5), 4 rebounds
Mike Taylor – 17 points (6-10), 5 turnovers
George Hill - 14 points (5-8)
Joseph Jones – 7 points (3-6)
Marcelus Kemp – 2 points (1-7)
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute – 9 points (3-6), 5 rebounds
Shaun Pruitt – 0 points (0-5), 7 rebounds

Analysis: Mike Taylor the ex-Iowa State player, who is currently in the NBDL but yet still eligible for the draft led all scorers with 17. Not sure how many three's he hit though or how many assists he had, which is a drawback to this boxscore. IUPUI's George Hill had 14 points and he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Joey Dorsey put in his usual work with 7 points and 4 rebounds and I would think that more performances like that will help him. Also, interesting to see what Luc Richard Mbah a Moute did here with the 9 points and 5 rebounds. He is one of the players who could really help himself with a strong camp and get himself drafted for his rebounding, defense, and energy.

Team 5
Aleks Maric – 2 points (1-3), 7 rebounds
Richard Roby – 14 points (5-8)
Othello Hunter – 13 points (6-7)
Danny Green – 9 points (3-10)
Jeremy Pargo – 4 points (1-6), 5 assists
Ramel Bradley – 3 points (1-3), 5 assists
Josh Duncan – 4 points (2-5), 5 rebounds
DeVon Hardin – 8 points (4-6)
Kyle Hines – 0 points (0-1), 4 rebounds
Bryce Taylor – 10 points (3-8)
Tyrone Brazelton – 3 points (1-4)

Analysis: The one player who really sticks out here is Othello Hunter, who had 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Not sure how many rebounds he had, but Hunter really played well at the Portsmouth Camp, where he averaged 15.7 points and 12 rebounds. He's off the a good start again in Orlando and I have to wonder if the scouts are noticing his strong play. He could get a look in the second round from somebody. Josh Duncan, who is somebody I have been following for a while now, had a decent performance with 4 points and 5 rebounds, but I think he needs to play better than that to get drafted. He could be looking at going undrafted at this point. Richard Roby of Colorado had 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting. I don't think he is much of a prospect at this point but he had a strong game, so I will keep an eye on him and see if he keeps it up.

Team 2
Gary Forbes - 17 points
Patrick Ewing Jr. – 14 points
Robert Vaden - 13 points
Richard Hendrix – 12 points, 5 rebounds
Longar Longar – 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 turnovers
Drew Neitzel – 9 points
Shawn James – 3 points
David Padgett – 2 points
Russell Robinson – 6 points
Deron Washington – 4 points

Analysis: Some decent performances on this team from a handful of guys. Gary Forbes, who also played great at the Portsmouth Camp, led all scorers with 17 points. I'm sure he dished out quite a few assists as well and I will definitely be looking for the DraftExpress analysis on Forbes. I think Forbes could really move up on draft boards with another strong performance in Orlando to follow up his strong Portsmouth showing. Patrick Ewing JR. is another intriguing prospect here and he seems to be more aggressive offensively then usual, scoring 14 points. I will keep an eye on sharp shooter Robert Vaden and Alabama's Richard Hendrix as well, who could be an early second round pick.

Team 1
Joe Crawford – 19 points
Wayne Ellington – 8 points
Kentrell Gransberry – 8 points, 10 rebounds
Quan Prowell – 5 points
Ronald Steele – 5 points, 6 assists
Mark Tyndale – 9 points, 4 rebounds
Shan Foster – 7 points, 3 assists
James Gist – 16 points, 5 rebounds
Darnell Jackson – 8 points
Jamar Butler – DNP (hamstring)

Analysis: Kentucky's Joe Crawford led all scorers with 19. I think he is a good scorer but not sure if he's an NBA quality talent. I will keep an eye on him to see if he continues his good play. James Gist scoring 16 points and grabbing 5 rebounds is definitely something to take notice of as well. Kansas' forward Darnell Jackson had 8 points, which is a decent performance and should not hurt his draft position.

Team 4
Frank Elegar – 8 points, 5 rebounds
Vladimir Golubovic – 9 points
Malik Hairston – 8 points
Brian Roberts – 11 points
Sonny Weems – 6 points
Pat Calathes – 10 points, 5 assists
Keith Brumbaugh – 6 points
Sasha Kaun – 4 points, 9 rebounds
Ty Lawson – 10 points, 4 assists
Charles Rhodes – 11 points
Reggie Williams – 11 points

Analysis: This team is pretty loaded with talent. Ty Lawson, as expected played well, so no surprise there. We know from the Portsmouth Camp that scouts love Pat Calathes and he had another strong showing here on Day 2 with 10 points and 5 assists. Brian Roberts, Charles Rhodes, and Reggie Williams all had 11 points in this game and I think all of them have the potential to be second round picks. I really like Rhodes' game but he might be a little undersized for the NBA at 6'8 but he could always be another Carl Landry type as well. Sasha Kaun certainly didn't hurt himself with 4 points and 9 rebounds as well.

Team 3
Maarty Leunen – 6 points
James Mays – 13 points, 5 rebounds
Trent Plaisted – 6 points, 4 rebounds
DeMarcus Nelson – 13 points
Stanley Burrell – 7 points
Chris Daniels – 7 points, 6 rebounds
Marcus Dove – 5 points
JR Giddens – 7 points
Jiri Hubalek – 9 points
Lester Hudson – 4 points, 5 assists, 5 turnovers
Takais Brown – 4 points

Analysis: Scouts love BYU's Trent Plaisted but he didn't do much to impress here with only 6 points and 4 rebounds. We took a look at Lester Hudson yesterday but he did not perform well on Day 2 because the 5 turnovers really hurt. James Mays played surprising well with 13 points and 5 rebounds. I don't think he is much of an NBA prospect but I will add him to the growing list of players to keep an eye on. DeMarcus Nelson certainly helped himself with 13 points because he is mostly looked at for his defense. Another Portsmouth Camp favorite, Jiri Hubalek played well here as well with 9 points. JR Giddens had a decent game with 7 points, I expect him to be more aggressive as the camp goes on.

Check back for more updates later on in the day. Hopefully, I will be able to provide some more in-depth analysis on the players performances from Day 2.
