Las Vegas NBA Summer League - Day 6

Day 6 of the Las Vegas NBA Summer League is in the books, so here are the final boxscores along with a rundown of the action:

(Links for previous days at the bottom)

Game 1 Boxscore: San Antonio Spurs 82 New York Knicks 67

Notables:

James Gist, SA: 10 points, 5-11 FG, 10 rebounds, 2 assists
Malik Hairston, SA: 9 points, 4-6 FG, 1 rebound, 1 assist
George Hill, SA: 4 points, 0-6 FG, 6 rebounds, 4 assists
Ian Mahinmi, SA: 14 points, 4-11 FG, 10 rebounds

Wilson Chandler, NYK: 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist
Danilo Gallanari, NYK: DNP, back injury

Comments: George Hill hasn't hit a shot from the floor two games in a row and is now 0 for his last 16, ouch. James Gist continues to play well for the Spurs though and French big man Ian Mahinmi has been solid in for the Spurs as well. Also, Guard Anthony Roberson signed a 2 year deal with the Knicks today, which could mean Stephon Marbury is on the way out.

Game 2 Boxscore: Dallas Mavericks 93 Sacramento Kings 71

Notables:

Jason Thompson, SAC: 11 points, 3-8 FG, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, 6 fouls, 5 turnovers
Spencer Hawes, SAC: 17 points, 6-17 FG, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal
Sheldon Williams, SAC: DNP
Quincy Douby, SAC: 9 points, 3-12 FG, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Sean Singletary, SAC: 2 points, 1-6 FG, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block
Patrick Ewing, JR, SAC: DNP

Shan Foster, DAL: 6 points, 3-8 FG, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Gerald Green, DAL: 18 points, 5-12 FG, 7 rebounds
Jajuan Smith, DAL: 10 points, 4-7 FG, 2-5 3FG, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 1 block
Charles Rhodes, DAL: 13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 9 fouls
Reggie Williams, DAL: 2 points, 1-2 FG, 1 rebound

Comments: Both Jajuan Smith and Charles Rhodes have been playing well for Dallas. Jajuan Smith has been shooting the three ball especially well and I'm curious to see if his long range shooting will get him a spot on the Mavs roster. Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes continue carry the scoring load for the Kings but they weren't very efficient in this game from the floor.

Game 3 Boxscore: Philadelphia 76ers 86 Washington Wizards 72

Notables:

Jamont Gordon, PHI: 10 points, 5-10 FG, 4 rebounds, 7 assists
Marreese Speights, PHI: 24 points, 9-17 FG, 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal
Thaddeus Young, PHI: 8 points, 3-13 FG, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals
Dawan Robinson, PHI: 6 points, 1-3 FG, 2 assists 1 steal
Jason Smith, PHI: 24 points, 9-14 FG, 11 rebounds

Andray Blatche, WAS: 18 points, 6-10 FG, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Gary Forbes, WAS: 6 points, 2-9 FG, 1 rebound, 1 assist
JaVale McGee, WAS: 9 points, 4-10 FG, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks
Nick Young, WAS: 10 points, 4-12 FG, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal

Comments: Marreese Speights continues to impress me and he has been solid in every game he has played so far. The 76ers could really be a scary team in the next couple of years. Jamont Gordon played solid in this game and I think he will earn a spot on the 76ers roster.

Game 4 Boxscore: Los Angeles Lakers 95 Minnesota Timberwolves 93

Notables:

Kevin Love, MIN: 18 points, 9-18 FG, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 5 fouls, 6 turnovers
Corey Brewer, MIN: 19 points, 7-10 FG, 2 rebounds, 1 block
Drew Neitzel, MIN: 4 points, 2-3 FG

Joe Crawford, LAL: 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 0 turnovers
Davon Jefferson, LAL: DNP
Marcelus Kemp, LAL: 6 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal
Brian Roberts, LAL: 12 points, 3-6 FG, 2-3 3FG, 2 assists

Comments: Kevin Love had a strong performance in this game, although he did have some foul and turnover issues, definitely impressive scoring and rebounding. Joe Crawford put in another solid effort and Brian Roberts made his debut with the Lakers and had a solid game as well.

Game 5 Boxscore: Los Angeles Clippers 82 Memphis Grizzlies 74

Notables:

Darrell Arthur, MEM: 12 points, 4-13 FG, 5 rebounds, 2 steals
Mike Conley. MEM: DNP
Javaris Crittenton, MEM: DNP
O.J. Mayo, MEM: 20 points, 8-22 FG, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Brian Butch, MEM: 2 points, 1-6 FG, 3 rebounds, 2 steals

DeAndre Jordan, LAC: 6 points, 3-3 FG, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks
Mike Taylor, LAC: 7 points, 3-8 FG, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 10 turnovers
Marcus Williams, LAC: 23 points, 6-11 FG, 11-11 FT, 10 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block
Nick Fazekas, LAC: 8 points, 3-4 FG, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
Al Thornton, LAC: 20 points, 6-10 FG, 8-9 FT, 8 rebounds, 3 assists
Eric Gordon, LAC: DNP

Comments: There's only so much you can say at this point before it becomes repetitive. O.J. Mayo, DeAndre Jordan, and Al Thornton all continue to play well. The Clippers added Marcus Camby, which puts even less pressure on Jordan to produce right away but I think he will be very useful off the bench this season. I also think Memphis is going to lose a lot of games again this season despite O.J. Mayo's solid play.

Game 6 Boxscore: Houston Rockets 73 Cleveland Cavaliers 72

Notables:

Darnell Jackson, CLE: 7 points, 2-4 FG, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal
J.J. Hickson, CLE: 18 points, 7-15 FG, 6 rebounds, 1 block
Mike Green, CLE: 8 points, 3-7 FG, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block

Aaron Brooks, HOU: 16 points, 5-14 FG, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal
Joey Dorsey, HOU: 8 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 6 fouls, 6 turnovers
Donte Greene, HOU: 17 points, 4-17 FG, 3-8 3FG, 6-6 FT, 5 rebounds, 2 steals
Joseph Jones, HOU: 0 points, 0-1 FG, 2 rebounds
Russell Robinson, HOU: 2 points, 1-7 FG, 2 rebounds, 3 assists
Marty Leunen, HOU: 17 points, 5-9 FG, 3-5 3FG, 5 rebounds

Comments: Joey Dorsey made his debut in this game and had a solid performance despite some turnover and foul issues. I'm not surprised Donte Greene couldn't follow up his 40 point performance with another good shooting night because he is a very streaky shooter. He still managed to score 17 points though. Marty Leunen got his 17 points much more efficiently and he has shot the ball well two games in a row. J.J. Hickson followed up his strong debut with another solid game.
