By now you probably know that I love verses that tell a story and Black Thought spits an ill one on this Skillz joint from the Million Dollar Backpack album. Definitely worthy of the Verse of The Week. Black Thought is one of the few MC's who continues to catch wreck on the mic after so many years in the game.
Verse of The Week
This shit remind me of my man Norman,
he gotta work two jobs one as a long shoreman, one as a doorman,
inside the Marriot a couple times he spazzed,
smacked the shit outta faggot ass carcier(sp)
His wife be scared he gonna get canned, they can't afford it
but what my man Norm can't stand, is being ordered around
by some clown, that's besides the point
He just paroled for five years inside the joint
and money tight so he working long nights at the water front
trying to get the paper for the swing set his daughter want
Let her know that when he was locked, he only thought of her
Even though he guilty of the crimes that they caught 'em for
Robbin' a photographer, told em give his wallet up
pampers cost more than six quarters, I ain't got enough
You woulda thought he walked in the bank and shot it up,
though the way the cops came and got him, they were squaded up
(Black Though, Hold Tight, Verse 2)
