My man Ed from Ed The Sports Fan invited me to join his blogger fantasy football league this year and the draft was on Thursday. I thought I would make up a list of sleepers that consists of players who are somewhat under the radar who I think can make a decent impact this season. These aren't just fantasy football sleepers because some of these guys could be playing big roles all season on playoff caliber teams. I also included the round they were picked in our ten team league, which had 15 rounds.
Here is the list of sleepers:
Ted Ginn, Jr., WR, Miami Dolphins: The Miami Dolphins suck but I have a feeling that Ginn is going to become Chad Pennington's favorite option, so he could be someone you should look at the pick up late in your draft. I know Bill Parcells isn't the coach of this team but I'm sure he has input on this team and I can't help but think the Dolphins are going to use Ginn the same way Parcells used Terry Glenn. I could easily see Ginn getting around 75 catches, 1,000 yards, and maybe as many as 10 TD's. Drafted: Round 11
Kurt Warner, QB, Arizona Cardinals: Since Matt Leinart is the starter right now for Arizona, Warner is going to go undrafted in most leagues. Chances are that he will end up being the starter at some point though and it's still possible that he might even be the opening day starter. Warner was pretty good last year, throwing for 3,417 yards and 27 TDs. Pretty good numbers and I think he gives Arizona the best chance to win this season. Drafted: Undrafted
Ricky Williams, RB, Miami Dolphins: Word on the street is that Ronnie Brown is still not 100% healthy and that Williams has been impressive so far. He is the # 1 back right now on the Miami depth chart and if he's healthy and motivated, then he could easily give you 1,000 yards and 8-12 TDs. Drafted: Round 15
Chris Perry, RB, Cincinnati Bengals: Marvin Lewis said that if the season started today that Chris Perry would be the starting RB for the Bengals. Even with that statement, I still think you can get Perry late in the draft because he's most likely still going to split carries with Rudi Johnson and Kenny Watson. He's still worth a late round pick though because he's the favorite to win the job right now. Drafted: Round 15
Maurice Morris, RB, Seattle Seahawks: Julius Jones is slated to be the starter in Seattle but he has never gotten into the end zone on a consistent basis throughout his career. Maybe this will be his year but I'm willing to bet that Morris gets about a half dozen TDs of his own this season just splitting time with Jones. Drafted: Undrafted
Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit Lions: You might not think Calvin Johnson is a sleeper but if you miss out on all the big name WR because of your draft position then Johnson could save you this season because I think he is going to have a monster season. He has looked good in the preseason so far and is becoming Jon Kitna's favorite target. If he was just some bum, then I wouldn't make a big deal out of this, but we know the man has talent so I'm gonna chalk up last season to injuries. He could be this seasons Braylon Edwards. I think if you get him after the 3rd round he could be a steal. Drafted: Round 4
Jerricho Cotchery, WR, New York Jets: Not only does this guy have one of the best names in the NFL but he is one tough son of a bitch. Someone is going to benefit from Brett Favre coming to the Jets and I think Cotchery is a good bet to be the one to do that. If Cotchery can catch 82 balls from Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens, then you have to figure he could do even better with Favre throwing to him. I also think you'll see his TD total increase with Favre and he'll probably get to go deep more often. Drafted: Round 6
DeSean Jackson, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: With Kevin Curtis out for a while and Reggie Brown hurting as well, Jackson looks like they guy who will see the ball thrown his way more often. He has been impressive in the preseason so far and also could help out with returns. I wouldn't take him too early but he's definitely worth a look towards the end of the draft. Drafted: Round 15
Jay Cutler, QB, Denver Broncos: Cutler is by no means a sleeper in my mind, but he may get overlooked. He didn't go until round 12 of our draft, which I was kind of surprised by. Last season, his first as a starter, he threw for 3,497 yards and 20 TDs and he figures to improve on those numbers this season. Obviously he is a steal in round 12, so if you can get him that late then you would be lucky. Drafted: Round 12
Alge Crumpler, TE, Tennessee Titans: I have a feeling I'm going to regret not taking this guy in the draft when I had a chance, Thankfully, he actually went undrafted, so I still might have a shot at him. We know he is a great TE but he has never played with a real good QB in Michael Vick and now he has Vince Young throwing to him, who isn't the greatest QB either. However, I have a lot of respect for Jeff Fisher and I think he will get Crumpler involved in the offense much like Frank Wycheck was back in the day. I could see Crumpler getting the majority of the TD passes from Young this season. Drafted: Undrafted
Randy McMichael, TE, St. Louis Rams: This is another guy that was lost last season and his team is going to try to involve him in the offense more this year. He was a stud in Miami and if Marc Bulger is back to his old self then McMichael could have a big season. Drafted: Undrafted

Ben Utecht, TE, Cincinnati Bengals: Utecht came over to the Bengals from the Colts, where he was stuck behind Dallas Clark. The Bengals have said that they would like to involve the TE more in the offense this season. With teams focusing on Chad Johnson and T.J Houshmandzadeh, I think Utecht could be another option for Carson Palmer in the redzone and score about 8-10 TD's this season. Drafted: Round 13
Kevin Walter, WR, Houston Texans: Walter is building up some chemistry with QB Matt Schaub in the preseason and he could be a strong option opposite of Andre Johnson. If Johnson gets hurt again this season, Walter could put up even bigger numbers as the #1 option for Schaub. Drafted: Undrafted
Other potential sleepers: Kevin Boss, TE, New York Giants; Greg Olsen, TE, Chicago Bears; Sidney Rice, WR, Minnesota Vikings; Dustin Keller, TE, New York Jets; DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers; Chris Brown, RB, Houston Texans; Isaac Bruce, WR, San Francisco; Ronald Curry, WR, Oakland Raiders; J.T O'Sullivan, QB, 49ers; Robert Meacham, WR, New Orleans Saints

Johnson and Williams will have big years, but good teams always have a dependable 3rd guy, and actually Detroit has two (McDonald)
