Other NBA News:- Manu Ginobili will
will have surgery to repair a ligament injury in his left ankle and no time table has been set for his return yet. This is bad news for the Spurs because Ginobili always seems to be hurt the past few years and I think that they made a big mistake by not trying to sign another wing player this season. This Spurs team could definitely be on the down side and I don't think they will be able to get past teams that are younger and quicker out West like the Lakers and Hornets.
- Ben Gordon remains unsigned and has
recieved a contract offer to play in Russia next season. I don't blame the Bulls for not shelling out big money for Gordon, but I would hate to see the NBA lose a great shooter like him. Hopefully, they can come to a one-year agreement and Gordon can try this free agent thing again next season.
- Medical experts aren't
buying Monta Ellis' excuse that he hurt his ankle while playing pickup ball.
- Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur were
were thrown out of the NBA's Rookie Transition Program on Wednesday morning after being caught in their hotel room with weed. Good job fellas, but not sure they should be thrown out of the transition program because maybe they could have learned something from it. Not a smart move by these two guys though.
- Donyell Marshall has
signed a 1-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers and will bring some veteran leadership to the team. I honestly thought Marshall was going to have to retire this season but I guess not.
- The New York Knicks brought us all back in time by
trading for Patrick Ewing, JR. I think Ewing could be a productive role player in the NBA but I wouldn't expect much out of him this season. Of course the Knicks could be bad enough again that he may end up seeing a decent amount of minutes at times, assuming he makes the team.
- The Miami Heat
signed center Jamaal Magloire to help them out down low. Not sure how much Magloire has left but the Heat are certainly going to find out if he can provide anything more than a big body that takes up space in the paint.
