In case you missed this on TNT the other night, Kenny Smith is interested in the Knicks GM job:
Smith, who is a fixture on TNT’s studio show with Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson, was responding to a report in The Daily News that he would interview this week with Donnie Walsh, the Knicks’ president.
“It’s a good possibility,” Smith said during TNT’s pregame show before the Detroit-Philadelphia playoff game.
Smith, who also works part-time on the Knicks’ local broadcasts, could be considered a candidate for general manager or assistant general manager, depending on how Walsh reorganizes the front office.
Smith said he had not spoken directly with Walsh. But he expressed a general interest in working for a team.
“If it’s basketball, in terms of coaching or a general manager or owning a team, that’s me,” Smith said. “If it’s sitting here with you numbskulls, it’s me. Basketball is me. I’m from New York, and that is the epitome of a franchise — the Lakers, the Celtics, the Knicks.” (NY Times)

I would really be disappointed if Kenny Smith took this job because that means we wouldn't be able to watch Charles, Kenny, and Ernie on TNT anymore and they have the best and most entertaining studio show out there for any sport.
They would probably try to replace him with some like Chris Webber or Alonzo Mourning, or maybe even Reggie Miller or Magic would be in the studio more. It just wouldn't be the same though because Kenny and Charles work off of each other so well. Ernie holds them together but I guess aslong as Barkley was there it wouldn't be half bad but I guess that might mean no more Gone Fishin' either.
