Las Vegas NBA Summer League - Day 9

Day 9 of the Las Vegas NBA Summer League is final, so here are the boxscores along with a rundown of the action:

(Links for previous days at the bottom)

Game 1 Boxscore: Charlotte Bobcats 103 New York Knicks 71
Notables:

Alexis Ajinca, CHA: 0 points, 0-1 FG, 3 rebounds, 1 block
D.J. Augustin, CHA: DNP
Kyle Weaver, CHA: 6 points, 2-4 FG, 2 rebounds, 1 steal

Wilson Chandler, NYK: 10 points, 5-13 FG, 9 rebounds, 1 steal
Danilo Gallanari, NYK: DNP
Mardy Collins, NYK: 9 points, 2-10 FG, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

Comments: Not much going on in this game at all. Both Gallanari and Augustin DNP and they are two biggest names in this game. Wilson Chandler didn't have a bad game but he did come back down to earth a little.

Game 2 Boxscore: Golden State Warriors 95 Toronto Raptors 90

Notables:

Anthony Randolph, GS: 26 points, 5-17 FG, 16-18 FT, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block
Brandan Wright, GS: DNP
Marco Belinelli, GS: 14 points, 4-14 FG, 8 assists, 1 rebound, 3 steals
DeMarcus Nelson, GS: 2 points, 1-5 FG, 1 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 block
Richard Hendrix, GS: 8 points, 3-8 FG, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks

Jaycee Carroll, TOR: DNP

Comments: Anthony Randolph put up some big scoring numbers in this game but most of them came from the free throw line because he shot so poorly from the floor. Marco Belinelli showed off some passing skills with 8 assists. Richard Hendrix made his debut and played well and did a little bit of everything.

Game 3 Boxscore: Denver Nuggets 92 Los Angeles Lakers 79

Notables:

Joe Crawford, LAL: 17 points, 8-18 FG, 1-4 3FG, 2 rebounds, 1 assist
Davon Jefferson, LAL: 12 points, 5-8 FG, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks
Marcelus Kemp, LAL: DNP
Brian Roberts, LAL: 0 points, 0-3 FG
Pat Calathes, LAL: 2 points, 1-2 FG

Chris Lofton, DEN: 3 points, 1-4 FG, 1-2 3FG
Curtis Sumpter, DEN: DNP
Sonny Weems, DEN: 7 points, 3-10 FG, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal

Comments: Joe Crawford had a solid game scoring the ball but he also has a done a good job not turning the ball over throughout the summer league. Through 6 games he averaged 1.67 turnover a game, that definitely is a plus for him.

Game 4 Boxscore: Washington Wizards 80 Houston Rockets 75

Notables:

Andray Blatche, WAS: 23 points, 9-19 FG, 7 rebounds, 4 assist, 3 steals, 2 blocks
Gary Forbes, WAS: 2 points, 1-4 FG, 2 rebounds
JaVale McGee, WAS: 4 points, 1-4 FG, 6 rebounds, 1 steal
Nick Young, WAS: 14 points, 5-12 FG, 3 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 block

Aaron Brooks, HOU: 10 points, 8-16 FG, 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal
Joey Dorsey, HOU: DNP
Donte Greene, HOU: 15 points, 5-19 FG, 3-9 3FG, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block
Joseph Jones, HOU: DNP
Russell Robinson, HOU: 0 points, 0-2 FG, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals
Marty Leunen, HOU: 13 points, 5-8 FG, 3-6 3FG, 5 rebounds

Comments: Monster game by Andray Blatche and I'm starting to wonder if he is going to pick up his play this year for the Wizards. That would definitely be something they could use. Gary Forbes hasn't done much the whole summer league and most games he doesn't seem even be involved because he hasn't been taking more than 5 shots a game. Donte Greene has been taking a lot of shots but not making most of them, he still manages to put up points every game though.

Game 5 Boxscore: Milwaukee Bucks 81 Minnesota Timberwolves 67

Notables:

Joe Alexander, MIL: 8 points, 2-11 FG, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 blocks
Luc Mbah a Moute, MIL: 13 points, 6-10 FG, 10 rebounds, 1 steal
Ramon Sessions, MIL: DNP
Darius Washington, MIL: 19 points, 6-10 FG, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals
Matt Freije, MIL: 16 points, 6-10 FG, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 blocks

Kevin Love, MIN: 10 points, 4-5 FG, 9 rebounds, 1 assist
Corey Brewer, MIN: 8 points, 4-13 FG, 3 rebounds, 2 assists
Drew Neitzel, MIN: 6 points, 3-9 FG, 0-3 3FG, 3 rebounds, 1 steal

Comments: Darius Washington played well with Ramon Sessions sitting out. I just realized that with Sessions playing, it was probably hard for Washington to play his game since Sessions was running the point. Kevin Love put up 10 points and 9 rebounds in just 17 minutes, so he continues to impress. Corey Brewer continues to struggle, which has to be disappointing for Minnesota. Joe Alexander has had his ups and downs but he has been picking up quite a few blocks.

Game 6 Boxscore: Portland Trailblazers 74 Phoenix Suns 73

Notables:

Jerryd Bayless, POR: 36 points, 14-26 FG, 2-3 3FG, 6-6 FT, 3 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 steals
Nicolas Batum, POR: 6 points, 2-8 FG, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block
Petteri Koponen, POR: 5 points, 2-13 FG, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal

Robin Lopez, PHX: 8 points, 2-10 FG, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 block
D.J. Strawberry, PHX: 15 points, 3-11 FG, 9-13 FT, 2 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks
Alando Tucker, PHX: 18 points, 7-10 FG, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block
Jiri Hubalek, PHX: DNP

Comments: What more can you say about Jerryd Bayless? He erupted for 36 points, including 17 in the 4th quarter to lead his team to victory. I can't wait to watch Bayless during the regular season to see what he can do against the best in the NBA. Alando Tucker has done good things for himself in the summer league and has been solid in every game. He could be earning himself so minutes for the Suns. D.J. Strawberry will certainly get a chance to be the backup point guard for Phoenix.

Game 7 Boxscore: New Orleans Hornets 79 Cleveland Cavaliers 78

Notables:

Julian Wright, NO: 11 points, 4-16 FG, 5 rebounds, 1 assists, 2 blocks
Bobby Brown, NO: 15 points, 7-17 FG, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal

Darnell Jackson, CLE: 4 points, 2-4 FG, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block
J.J. Hickson, CLE: 17 points, 6-15 FG, 10 rebounds, 1 block
Mike Green, CLE: 7 points, 3-7 FG, 1 rebound, 1 assist

Comments: Bobby Brown continued his strong play in the summer league and he should have a chance to make the Hornets. J.J. Hickson played solid once again for the Cavs and has been their one bright spot this summer.
