Michael Jackson Dead At The Age of 50 (R.I.P.)

Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted "King of Pop" who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world's most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.

The person said Jackson died in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves, his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove and tight, military-style jacket were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance. (Yahoo)

Wow, this just came out of nowhere. Pretty damn crazy and a sad ending to the life of a man who might have been the most famous person in the world at some point. "Billie Jean" was my personal favorite and I always like "Smooth Criminal" too. You can't front on his patented Moonwalk either.

R.I.P Mike...you will always be a legend.

Hip 2 Da Game Like Bo Jack

So you may or may not know, but exactly one year ago today was the first time I ever posted on this blog. As you can see, I had no friggen idea what I was doing.

A lot has happened since then. I've got more of a routine down for this blogging thing, I've made some money, met some chill people, bought a second blog, started a third one, and gained some exposure on the 'net.

To this day, Hip 2 Da Game has received 223,561 unique page views, which is a far cry from the 30 a day I used to get when I first started. This looks like it is going to be the most successful month ever for the blog(thank you Zach Randolph) and hopefully it will grow even further from there.

I just wanted to thank each and every person who has visited the blog in the past year, especially if you come back every day, then I really appreciate ya. Keep coming back, I promise I won't disappoint.

Hopefully, this next year will bring even bigger and better things for Hip 2 Da Game and your boy Antone!
