Verse of The Week: T.I. (The Way You Want It)

Didn't think I'd be giving T.I. anymore Verse of The Week honors, but I'm feeling the reflective state he's spittin' on this joint. Guess that's what happens when your 'bout to be sent to prison.

Verse of The Week

After careful consideration I've concluded,
tribulations make you great if you're willing to go through it,
they can hate all they want, but in the end whatever God intends,
to be will be, so put your trust in he and not the hearts of men.
We often question adversity's purpose stressin',
not recognizin' the blessin', often missin' the message,
who woulda thought I would emerge from the ruins and the wreckage,
even better than I was before the automatic weapons?
The lesson I took away make my testimony competitive,
enough to leave an impression on struggling adolescents,
who nobody invested, put forth the effort,
or took a second to push 'em to do their best, and promote forward progression,
statistically destined to be arrested, shot in a second,
that hopelessness just leads to depression, they disguise as aggression,
'til a federal felon pressin' to earn his way into heaven,
show up and show 'em professions and opportunity's present.
Potential is mental, your destiny is in your possession,
ambition and education is first and talent is second,
you get what you can envision,
if puttin' me in prison more important than keepin' 'em out, I respect your decision
(T.I., The Way You Want It, Verse 1)

Verse of The Week: Termanology (Nothing Iz Real)

Yeah, so the Verse of The Week really hasn't been a weekly staple all month around here, but Termanology grabs the honors this week.

Verse of The Week

Ayo taxes, why you think there's different kind of brackets,
some people get money, they put it under they mattress,
some people act funny, like they rich and they above me,
but I'm laughing at these yuppies, like 'Pac spittin' at cameras,
look in my peoples eyes, we struggle and beat the odds
these politicians buy news stations and camera time,
Fox News, CNN, and Channel 5,
they all telling lies, whatever they fantasize,
I look into the eyes of these politicians,
take advantage of our women, keep 'em standin' in positions,
where they pay for baby sittin', they just tryin' to make a livin',
but it costs so much to go to school they never finish
you can say it's all a business, or the government is trippin',
but if we don't wanna listen, there's no way that we can switch it,
I can see this all as vivid shit that some people are missin',
homey don't you get it twisted, none of this shit is real
(Termanology, Nothing Iz Real, Verse 3)

Verse of The Week: Styles P (To The Grave)

Styles P still kickin' that street knowledge with a quick 12 bars for Verse of The Week honors.

Verse of The Week

Look in the hood, tell me what your eyes behold,
everybody living life in survival mode,
the city tell more stories than the bible told,
seen what I seen, betcha that ya eyes'll close.
It's more than a yellow line that divide the road,
pick a side and we ride for it, that's the code,
but the code ain't crackin' the safe,
thought it was family first, but nobody put us back in our place,
why you think it's packed in the state and the county,
read the mis-education of negroes and felt rowdy,
why you think the vision look cloudy,
when the suns right there,'cause the guns right there
(Styles P, To The Grave, Verse 2)

Verse of The Week - Black Thought (Reality Check)

I thought the concept Black Thought used by rhyming about his girl watching reality tv shows was pretty ill, so he gets the Verse of The Week honors.

Verse of The Week

Yo, I'm having trouble at the crib,
I'm going at it with my babymother where I live,
while the soldiers bleed, the economy recede,
and all she wanna watch is reality TV,
went from A Surreal Life to Strange Love,
some behavior I couldn't figure the Flav of,
dropped out of Charm School when she fell in love with New York,
and Love Money, that's what I'm not made of
I bought a membership to the Celebrity Fit Club,
to see if I could stand a Real Chance with this love,
it don't make sense the way she try to turn a G to a Gent,
but need Tough Love, don't get it mixed up,
I was one of the Wildboyz, Shooting for Sizemore,
she was a little live jawn watchin' The Osbournes
The Best Week Ever, had her Goin' For Broke like Eddie Griffin,
or Danny Bonaduce, but no she never listen,
when I drop a Super Sweet 16,
daydreamin' of becoming Miss Rap Supreme,
or maybe Making The Band, but bring your guns out,
sing ya lungs out, move out like Daddy's Girls outta Run's House,
but that's Against All Odds, might try and come to pimp your ride,
real as Real Housewives, yeah it's real outside
ain't it like an episode of College Hill outside,
whether it be for the love of the payday,
or for the love of trying have a baby for Ray J,
the Most Smartest Model on Project Runway,
she wanna be Kimora, Living Life in the Fab Lane,
and change her last name,
and since Gotti's Way was passe, she watch Salt N Pepa and Celeb Rehab day,
that's all she talk about at the cafe,
I swear to god it drove me to drink about a half a carafe hey,
my head so spinnin', I'm so through with women,
who watch re-runs of The Real World with dinner,
and Kim Kardashian moms and Bruce Jenner,
and Three-Six Mafia show and Jerry Springer,
Scott Baio...46 and knocked up,
I'd rather see The First 48 on locked up,
instead it's just a Nanny 911, I'm Trading Spouses,
Extreme Makeover she rearrange the couches, now she keep changing outfits,
I'm 'bout to have to get a Dr. Phil to do something about this,
The house not fresh, she not Top Chef,
I tell her Viva La Bam, she tell me not yet,
watching Cribs, looking at shit she never gonna get,
America's Best Dance Crew she trying to do the steps,
'bout to do her like Beyonce and tell her to the left,
truth be told, she 'bout to television me to death
(Black Thought, Reality Check, Verse 1)

Verse of The Week: Jadakiss (What If)

Some weeks there's barely any verses worth giving Verse of The Week honors to. Then there's weeks like this where there's a ton of new joints that have verses that could be Verse of The Week and even a whole song like the Jadakiss and Nas joint where every verse from that song is hot. I picked the first verse for Verse of The Week honors though because I thought it was the best.

Verse of The Week

Take a second, what if we could rewind the hood?,
better yet, what if the Lox woulda signed with Suge ?
What if Puffy never signed us?
What if Oprah made them comments like Imus?
What if you designed this, thought like I did, said it like this?
What if Peyton was fighting dogs instead of Mike Vick?
What if Arnold woulda just let Tookie get life?
What if B.I.G. missed the party? what if Pac missed the fight?
What if you was caged in?, what would you change then?
What if there was no Rockerfeller Law for made men?
What if hate ran through me?
and what if Portland woulda drafted Jordan instead of Sam Bowie ?
What if you really had to be nice to get a deal?
What if all these rapper's ice was really real?
What if I hit you with the razor from cheek to chin?
What if Mike Jackson never woulda bleached his skin?
(Jadakiss, What If, Verse 1)

Verse of The Week

Nas checks in to win this week's Verse of The Week honors.

Verse of The Week

I don't say I'm maintaining that's a lame's language,
poor English, from a wise man I learned patience,
me not distinguished, is like a fiendless Queensbridge,
I don't say I'm grindin', 'cause everything I do's redefining
'Cause when you know the streets to the science, apply it,
very moderate, to your business and watch you profit
Rap game, NBA to NFL, the kids will yell,
will I win or fail, or end up in a cell?,
nonsense,'cause they can grow to be part of the congress,
be responsive to these innercity problems
behind the tint with the chauffeur, I rep for the culture,
rep for the thugs and still see eye to eye with Oprah
I was a dreamer, a wisher with hopes for,
a better life for these kids, while I sip a Mimosa
I planned yo, used to watch a black and white Sanyo,
who's the best?, next to me they couldn't light a candle

Verse of The Week

Yes, Sheek Louch wins Verse of The Week honors, but he did come hard-body on a Dr. Dre beat and there wasn't much else to choose from this week.

Verse of The Week

4-4 nickel plate shiny as fuck yo,
I like the rubber grip, 'cause it hurt when the gun blow,
black mask on, outside of your condo
I used to move the rock and dish it off like Rondo,
papi on the block always yelling 'bout Hondo
I skate on these niggaz, like I'm out in Toronto,
blacked out Hemi-Challenger and it sit low,
I told you I'm the muthafuckin' man from the get go,
I know a lot of things and I know what I don't know: po po
these niggaz be rappin' all so-so,
singing on these records like K-Ci & JoJo,
skinny jean wearing niggaz, shoppin' at SoHo,
loco, don't make me go load the tre-ocho,
these little niggaz out here sweeter than cocoa
Depressing, recession got a nigga with no doe,
been all around the world hoe, I told you I'm global,
I can't walk around without 'em taking my photo,
I move on these niggaz, like I'm sparring with Cotto,
Big dawg, you just a little pup like Toto,
stop lying nigga, from my trunk you might go
All these niggaz here Softer than Micro
Sheek a sure thing, y'all niggaz might blow
lost a little weight on 'em, but no Lipo,
hit you with the hatchet, muthafucka I'm Michael,
Myers, get the pliers, pull teeth out,
ask these niggaz what the beef 'bout.

Verse of The Week

Talib Kweli put together the most complete verse this week to win Verse of The Week honors.

Verse of The Week

Some folks give 'em less than good,
whole life right there, they never left the hood
The city got nuttin' for 'em,
out of sight, out of mind, so they just ignore 'em
Sit back and they twist it backwards,
nothing guaranteed, except death and taxes,
that's why they get so high,
stand in one spot, watch life go by,
and hands on the clock, go slower than the van on the block
every plan is a scam or a plot,
every man got his hand in the pot,
but nobody got a pot to piss in,
the preacher preachin', they don't stop and listen
Hard livin', cars driven at a high speed pace,
in a high speed chase, you can read between the lines in my face
I was up all night long, listening to my favorite song
(Talib Kweli, My Favorite Song, Verse 2)

Verse of The Week

Told you this would be the Verse of the Week, so you shouldn't be surprised to see it here. Truth is though that it didn't have much competition. The worse thing about the new year is always the limited amount of new music. Things should start to heat up soon though.

Verse of The Week

This for the black radio, niggas that play Cee-lo,
always on the d-low, with dreams of a kilo,
as nice as Jordan hit the jumper on Craig Ehlo,
show a stranger love, hate on a brother we know
A lot of niggas got killed because of they ego,
either over a bitch, or a couple of c-notes,
it's rough in the G-H-E-TT-O,
gotta learn how to hear no evil, and see no
I spit nothing but acid, like amino,
still good for your skin though, like Aveeno,
honeys be amazed how my hershey kiss ring blow,
miss being with my grandmother playing bingo
Whole albums crack, not just the singles,
it's garbage if you put it on your tongue and it don't tingle
I still be in the hood yo, I let the thing go,
bullets gonna burn, but the razor gonna sting though,
I do this for niggas in kaksaki, in the swing yo
got a team out in Louisville, like Pitino,
kill you in 88 minutes, like Pacino,
connect show me how to play dominoes and pachino,
21 nigga, I'm robbin' all the casinos,
name ring bells from Rikers Island to chino,
little niggas with choppers hopping out the Camino,
whoever didn't get hit, evacuated the scene yo
You know that I don't fuck around, let your team know,
or one day when your out of town, I'll let your queen know,
I mean what I say and I say what I mean yo,
send you to the hospital first, then your spleen yo
I ain't trying to get funny money, I need mean doe,
niggas can't fuck with the god, come clean yo,
I shit on niggas dreams yo, kiss my ass

Verse of The Week

Busta comes through with some animal planet type rap and rips Q-Tip's "Renaissance Rap (Remix)" to shreds like a lion eating it's prey to claim the Verse of The Week.

Verse of The Week

God body, wise intelligence,
smack niggaz and wrestle with elephants,
my beloved respect my benevolence,
coming like missles, the issue is this be the shit you can't rebel against
Then I sniff out you niggaz that be hiding in bushes, what's up?,
and strangle niggaz like poisonous octopuses, shut the fuck up,
back with hazardous weathers and blizzards,
as I spit, sticking out my tongue like an iguana lizard,
at your corny niggaz, animal planet rap, wild life,
stabbin' you in your back wild nice,
while I hunt and eat you niggaz like food, leavin' you bleedin'
beats, rattle the speakers, like some buffalo stampedin',
if you don't understand what I'm sayin',
lyrically I'm like goons accidentally beatin' you like gorillas playin'
Bitches know when I spit, I be seducin' 'em,
countless money with diamonds that's buried in Jerusalem

Verse of The Week

I knew the second I heard this it was going to be the Verse of The Week. "...You can keep your puss, I don't want no more Bush....", it was a wrap after I heard that.

Verse of The Week

My President is black, in fact he's half white,
so even in a racist's mind, he's half right,
if you have a racist mind, you'll be aight,
the President is black, but his house is all white
Rosa Parks sat, so Martin Luther could walk,
Martin Luther walked, so Barack Obama could run,
Barack Obama ran, so all the children could fly,
so I'ma spread my wings, you can meet me in the sky
I already got my own clothes, already got my own shoes,
I was hot before Barack, imagine what I'm gon' do
Hello Miss America, hey pretty lady,
Red, white, & blue flag, wave for me baby
Never thought I'd say this shit, baby I'm good,
you can keep your puss,I don't want no more Bush
No more war, no more Iraq,
no more white lies, my President is black

Busta Rhymes spits a quick 12 bars to grab Verse of The Week honors.

Verse of The Week

I'm so heavyweight, nigga, if you lift me you might strain
I'm god body with the most unstoppable campaign
A curling iron, with a sauna, mixed with a heater, friend,
of abnormal tempatures, back just to sizzle the street again
I make 'em feel like it was legal to clap shit,
that's what I do and what I did in every era of this rap shit,
true, now let me give you more ammo quick,
with lethal arsenal and jump back in the battlefield with it,
and inproperly pop off and claim what I own, you get me?
Make it official, set the proper tone in the city,
I brought the hottest niggas through to put it down,
now take note, while I show you niggas how to wear the crown

Verse of The Week

Jadakiss has been back on his grind lately and has earned this week's honors for Verse of The Week. Jadakiss is like a weak side blitz with his lyrics, he kinda sneaks up on you with his laid back flow, but hits you hard in the end.

Verse of The Week

Once I start, I ain't gonna stop the squeezin',
and the gauze ain't gonna be able to stop the bleedin',
and your girl ain't gonna be able to stop the weezin',
when she get that phone call from the doc, we even,
you can not stop me, so stop believin'
Ring tone rap, this is not the season
Punch lines hard enough to stop ya breathin',
and the ladies a still pay a lot to see him
I'ma get rich long as I got my freedom
Usually when you get hit, it's for a reason
If you're in the hood betta dodge the D's and,
watch your Q's and be on your P's and,
thank ya all for coming out this evening,
having a good time with your liquor and trees and,
even if they knock me, then continue to watch me,
they still ain't gonna be able to stop me
(Jadakiss, Can't Stop Me, Verse 3)

Verse of The Week

What better way to start 2009 than to have Skillz come through with the 2008 Rap Up for Verse of The Week.

Verse of The Week

It's that time, we bringing past back up
your boy Skillz, you know my ass gon' act up,
and this year was jacked up, but I got the facts up,
here we go scrap, this the '08 rap up
If you a Patriot fan, you was quick to cheer,
'til the Giants pulled off the upset of the year,
and the commercials was lame as hell,
poor Marion Jones, she had to watch the game from her cell
Detox was getting recorded,
and Dre put out some headphones, but he was only one who could afford 'em
Wayne got bagged for having herb,
and Nas tried to drop a CD that was called the N word,
I chilled on the word, I was fine,
'til I saw him at the Grammy's, I was like "This nigga lost his mind"
Ne-Yo toured with Kells and he got played
and 50 cent, he kicked Paris Hilton off stage
Game went to jail for 8 days,
you know it's bad when JoJo faint, and K-Ci leave him on the stage
Jay-Z & Mary J doubled they bread
Shout to Prodigy and Remy Ma, hold ya head
A Raisin in the Sun, you lied,
I heard that and I thought Flava Flav got a show outside
and wrestling looked faker than ever,
I mean who was gonna believe that Big Show couldn't beat Mayweather
Now Nick and Mariah they kept it G,
but the wedding of the year goes to Hov & B
The unity of G-Unit is gone,
'cause it's a sad day when you got Young Buck cryin' on the phone
Ice T and Soulja Boy, dumb,
and who was the fool who threw a bottle at KRS-One?
The Sean Bell verdict was lame,
and 50 went to Africa, but he ain't come back with his chain
Wayne dissed the DJ's, what was that 'bout?
then a barber from LA straight knocked Suge out
tough street lookin' boy,
the guys that made that song, they lookin' like no second single lookin' boys,
and let me say this, don't it feel good to say "Big ups to all my haters"?
The beef gotta stop G,
Fif you running out of people man, why you picking on Rocsi?
Your baby momma came out,
but we ain't never find out who really burned down the house
Rick Ross took it too far,
was it me or he was the biggest CO we have seen thus far,
I'm just askin',
and Bow Wow got his ass handed to him in a game of Madden,
you wanna know what's funny?
they showed us the game, but they ain't never say who got that money
The system is filthy, for real G,
How the hell R Kelly come up not guilty
I can't believe he walking,
on tv talking 'bout, "When you say teenage, how old are we talking?"
Wayne sold a milli in a week,
and in 7 days I got sick of the a Milli beat
Da Brat doing time served,
and '08 was almost a good year for your man Young Berg
between fights and his fan base, he needed some help,
then his chain went on tour, by itself
Will Smith got Hollywood on smash,
Puff you a millionaire man, why you cryin' 'bout gas
Katt Williams he went nuts,
and the economy was harder than McCain tryin' to put his arms up,
and Palin I ain't gonna discuss her,
she probably on the porch now tryin' to look at Russia
and Kanye he went for broke,
maybe the album shoulda been called 808's and no high notes,
but nah he doin' his thing,
is it hard to fight paparazzi when you got on skinny jeans?
Nelly and Usher couldn't find their fans,
Super Head said I'm pregnant,
I'm like by who a pregnant man?
T.I. got back in gear
Beyonce, Single Ladies, mmm, video of the year
it had the guys getting hype together,
I hope DMX finally get his life together
Man, we got to kill all the drama,
biggest moment ever, Barack Obama
First black president, please believe it
I'm just happy that my granny got a chance to see it
it's time for a change,
so don't go tryin' to turn inauguration into a All-Star game,
let's act right and show these kids,
we can turn yes we can, into yes we did
and Bush made it hard,
be patient, let that man go to the White House and do his job
Black athletes, y'all gotta parlay, don't play,
you saw how they came back for O.J
The economy that's a wrap no doubt,
the whole world in debt, how the hell you bail that out?
Halle Berry, she had a baby on the low
The best thing on TV was Keyshia Cole show,
lookin' good Keyshia, but don't thank me,
'cause you ain't the star of the show, that would be Frankie
It's a crazy world, Jeezy told you son
crazy world? I wonder where he got that from,
I gotta say it, cause he influenced the game,
but I gotta give props to the boy T-Pain
and y'all niggaz lame,
with songs like "Ho, we pop champagne",
so I'ma say this quick,
"We in a recession", stop lying y'all ain't poppin' shit
and President Bush so hated,
he went to Iraq and almost got a-shoe-ssinated
So I'm gonna shout out the boy,
and shout out everybody upstairs who ain't with us no mo'
So y'all stay on your grind,
you boy Skillz, welcome to 2009

Verse of The Week

After a two week hiatus, Verse of The Week is back in full effect with the Philly freezer, Freeway, winning this week's honors.

Verse of The Week

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty
It's the land where my fathers was hung, whole bunch of racial violence, bunch of drama to me
9/11 towers droppin','08 stocks droppin', people won't stop robbin',

probably cause it's poverty
they got us all stuck in jail for incorrect bail, there's probably someone rhymin' in the prison hotter than me
I see, you gotta give people the good and the bad,
the bad is the past,
the good is what it's destined to be,
and I know one thing that is destined to me,
destined to free,
tell the people we gonna last
it gets worse before it get better,
they stress us with the recession, then turn around bless us with a black president
and it's evident, that it seems heavent sent,
but I'ma take it, finally got to see the day they let us in

Verse of The Week

This might be the first track ever where an MC mercs himself on his own track. Jigga's second verse on "Brooklyn (We Go Hard)" just blows the first verse out of the water. Verse of The Week honors were easy for me to hand out this week. By the way..."I jack, I rob, I sin/Aw man I'm Jackie Robinson"...just another reason you can't fuck with Hov.

Verse of The Week

I father, I Brooklyn Dodger them
I jack, I rob, I sin
Aw man, I'm Jackie Robinson,
'cept when I run base, I dodge the pen
Lucky me, luckily they didn't get me
Now when I bring the Nets, I'm the black Branch Rickey
From Brooklyn corners, burnin' branches of sticky,
spread love, Biggie, Brookyln hippy
I pity the fool with jewels like Mr. T,
with no history in my borough,
they borrow, with no intentions of returning tomorrow
The sun don't come out for many, like Annie
Half orphan, momma never had an abortion
poppa sorta did, still I managed to live
I go hard, I owe it all to the crib
Now please tell me, what the fucks harder than this?

Verse of The Week

Verse of The Week honors go to the legendary Houston MC Scarface for his verse of his new joint with Bilal, "Can't Get Right", off of his new album Emeritus.

I lay in bed, looking up at the ceiling,
as the fan turns in a circle, thinking about my evening,
seeing hen(?)on my tv, bombs in the skies,
over Baghdad, they fight but they don't know why,
they said about Hussein, was a god damn lie
wage war against the religion for oil, don't lie
I see kids in the hood living like they gon' die,
with the mindstate of we broke, let's go get high
The cost of living so crazy, how we gon' get by?
gasoline five dollars, how the fuck we gon' drive?
Can't afford to fill our prescription, so we all gon' die
CVS is slangin' dope on every block world wide
Since Pfizer been having dope game on fire,
then it's only right for one niggy to go get mine
if they ain't nickin', how they gon' survive?
If they stuck at the bottom, how the fuck they gonna ride?
(Scarface, Can't Get Right, Verse 2)

Verse of The Week

Verse of The Week honors once again go to Sha Stimuli. I actually wish I could give it to someone else, but there wasn't much heat coming out this week and Sha Stimuli's verse on Statik Selektah's "Destined To Shine (Obama Remix)" is pretty hot.

Verse of The Week

I hate to say it, but I told you so, they wouldn't give us reperations,
I don't praise the separation, but they started segregation,
so we changed the legislation, put the rest to hatin',
like when Lincoln freed the slaves, I guess Barack upset the nation,
but the underdog is sometimes the favorite, I relate
I saw people at the polls wiping tears off their face,
I saw strippers on the poles that night celebrating,
taking lingerie off, but couldn't take a day off?, damn
She said "Now I can tell my seeds, they don't gotta rap or dance like me,
they can be President, it feels like a dream"
I threw up fifty dollars, I said I know what you mean
She asked if I needed change, that's kinda funny,
'Cause I said we all need change, but keep the money
I don't know if one person can do it, let me reverse that I'm stupid,
'cause I can change with one verse from my music
I'm hurt and confused, 'cause I don't wanna cry and grab a tissue
I want race not to be an issue,
I almost wanted McCain to win, so we could riot shoot our pistols,
but I keep that feelin' quiet, deep inside I am officially hype,
and I'm reminded why I picked up a mic
Didn't wanna big a nigga for life, but I loved NWA
I am not just a rapper, when I'm barrelled by my travels I got something to say
November 4th it was one of those days we recognized,
Martin Luther King's dream was alive

Verse of The Week

Verse of The Week was on hiatus last week because there wasn't anything worthy of the honor. This week it's back with Nas spitting a hot verse from the new Ludacris joint, "I Do It For Hip Hop". I have to say though that the verse Ludacris drops on this joint was very close to getting Verse of The Week honors too.

Verse of The Week

They say I'm so low key, I'm social awkward
Only niggas who really know me, who I talk with
They smile in the light, hate in the dark
You call it beef, to me it's just a fuckin' walk in the park
'Cause you are who you are when nobody's lookin'
That's who you are, so when the cash and the cars is gone,
the day after tomorrow, don't be asking to ball
ski mask, get hard, like the way you rappin' your bars
I can ride on you and whoever, devise new endeavors
I'm as live as a hive full of predators
20,000 different species of bees,
some have poisonous sting, some just pile and they leave,
it's like rap, some just buzz, some will attack,
compromise their own life in fact
16 years since my first 16, pardon the rest of my niggaz,
but I'm the best who ever did it
(Nas, I Do It For Hip Hop, Verse 2)

Verse of The Week

With the presidential election this Tuesday, there has been a lot of presidential related music dropping lately, so it's no surprise that the Verse of The Week would be related to the election. Sha Stimuli gets the honors this week with his verse on his joint "Black President Pt.3" featuring Skyzoo

Verse of The Week

I guess that I should be happy, Dr. King had a dream it's lookin' like it's 'bout to happen
My grandmother woulda been clappin', if she lived to see it, I don't have the same reaction
'Cause on one hand I feel like we made it far,
we're not the monkeys and the coons that they say we are
We went from nigger to negro, we played our parts,
to racism on the low, still the hate is hard
So it feels kinda good to be accepted,
but brother Malcolm felt good being separate,
and he ain't get a holiday, he got a death wish,
so why are we so excited we got respect?,
'cause Obama has a chance to become the first African,
This is like the Oscars lettin' Denzel and Halle win,
like Mr. Drummond took Arnold and Willis Jackson in
Master let us clean up the kitchen and now we thankin' him
If God made us equal, the real mystery is how come a brown skin president is history
How come adults on the corner are talking shit to me about the Democratic convention,
and rappers are mentioning politics more, when before we ain't give a damn
A black man is black, but he is still a man
I'm just a little confused, maybe this is a scam,
givin' us a colored leader, USA got jungle fever
Nah, I'm just trying to get inside your mental,
real talk this event is still monumental,
and I support anybody that realizes when you focus on parents, then governments hardly matter
Not movies, not TV, not videos of rappers,
Joe Biden, Joe Budden, not McCain, not Palin
Look Barack can't raise your kids, so stop acting like it's somebody's fault when your son or daughter falls
(Sha Stimuli, Black President Pt. 3, Verse 2)
