Pending Pinstripes had a post comparing the Yankees young players to more established current and former players using the PECOTA projections:
Yankees' Comparisons
I particulary thought the section on who Melky Cabrera compares to was very interesting:
Melky Cabrera - Carlos Beltran sits at #1, with Coco Crisp and Pete Rose immediately following, and Carl Yastrzemski, Nick Markakis, Reggie Smith, and Bernie Williams also coming up. Lesson: Wait 1 more year before knocking him off.
I'm suprised his comparisons are so favorable but this also harps back to a point I always make about about Melky to those who think he isn't going to be very good: Melky is extremely young and he is holding his own at the Major League level in perhaps the toughest place to play, so it would not be suprising to see him improve as he gets older and become an all star caliber player.
