NFL Power Rankings - Week 6

Here are my NFL Power Rankings after Week 6 featuring a new # 1 team, with last week's ranking in parenthesis:

Week: 1 2 3 4 5 6

1. Tennessee Titans (5-0) (3)

The Titans were able to grab the #1 spot in the power rankings without even playing this week. That's what happens when the # 1 team loses to the Browns, the Redskins lose to the Rams, and Dallas loses not only their game but also their QB for 4 weeks.

2. New York Giants (4-1) (1)

I'm not completely surprised that the Giants lost to the Browns, because it was a big home game for Cleveland. The Giants haven't exactly beaten the best teams this season either. They have a nice win against Washington, but their other wins are against St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Seattle. Those 3 teams only have combined for only 2 wins.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) (5)

The Steelers have somehow managed to move their way into my top 3, even though I still have issues with their pass protection. Right now they look like one of the top teams in the AFC and have as good of a chance as any team to win the AFC.

4. Dallas Cowboys (4-2) (2)

What a crazy couple days for the Cowboys. First they lose in OT on a blocked punt, then they lose Tony Romo for up to 4 weeks, then the NFL suspends Pacman Jones AGAIN, and finally they traded for Lions WR Roy Williams. So now there are 2 Roy Williams in Dallas, but there is only one Dallas in the NFL. That is for sure.

5. Washington Redskins (4-2) (4)

The Redskins had a horrible loss this week at home against the Rams. Some costly turnovers did them in. I'm not too worried about them going forward, because they didn't have a turnover all season before this week. They'll face a resurgent Cleveland team in Week 7.

6. Buffalo Bills (4-1) (6)

Buffalo is coming off a bye week and face off with San Diego, which should be one of the better games of Week 7. Buffalo is tough at home and I expect them to come out strong after the bye week.

7. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) (11)

The Eagles took care of business by handling the 49ers on the road. They also caught a break by seeing all 3 of other teams in the division lose.

8. San Diego Chargers (3-3) (14)

Is this the week that San Diego starts to turn things around for good? It would certainly be huge for them to win in Buffalo. I think they are on the right track, even if they lose a tough one in Buffalo.

9. Arizona Cardinals (4-2) (16)

Arizona had an impressive win against the Cowboys and are starting to become a real tough team to beat at home.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2) (13)

Tampa Bay just seems to find ways to keep winning games, despite not always having what appears to be the best offense on paper. They continue to be tough at home and their defense is playing great right now.

11. Carolina Panthers (4-2) (7)

Carolina has not able to play as good on the road as they have at home this season. Tampa Bay wiped the floor with them and now they have a big home game with New Orleans.

12. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) (12)

Jacksonville is back at .500 after beating Denver on the road. They have a bye this week and then have three very winnable games against the Browns, Bengals, and Lions, before they meet up with Tennessee.

13. Denver Broncos (4-2) (8)

I'm convinced this team is going to fade down the stretch, especially since 4 of their last 5 games are at the Jets, at Carolina, at San Diego, and home against Buffalo.

14. New York Jets (3-2) (15)

The Jets have some good momentum right now and should be able to keep that momentum rolling with 3 of the next 4 games against Oakland, Kansas City, and St. Louis.

15. Indianapolis Colts (3-2) (17)

The Colts look to be sitting pretty at 3-2, but we should learn how good this Colts team is with their next stretch of games, which is extremely tough. The head to Green Bay this week, then at Tennessee, home against the Patriots, and then at Pittsburgh. If they can split these 4 games, then their schedule softens up considerably, and they should be able to make the playoffs once again.

16. New Orleans Saints (3-3) (18)

The Saints took care of business against the Raiders this week, but now they head to Carolina in a huge divisional game. Marques Colston will be back on the field against Carolina and it's possible the Saints might get Jeremy Shockey back as well. Drew Brees is getting more weapons, which should scare the crap out of the rest of the NFC South.

17. Chicago Bears (3-3) (10)

The Bears lost a tough one on the road to the Falcons and now have an important divisional game against the Vikings. Kyle Orton continue to play well at QB for the Bears.

18. Green Bay Packers (3-3) (19)

The Packers took care of business by dispatching the pathetic Seahawks. They'll host the Colts this week, which along with the Chargers-Bills game, is one of the best games of Week 7.

19. New England Patriots (3-2) (9)

The Patriots are just an ordinary football team right now. Sometimes they'll look good and others they'll look horrible. This was not one of their better showings and now they'll head home to host Denver, a team they historically do not fare well against.

20. Atlanta Falcons (4-2) (22)

The Falcons have been the most surprising team in the NFL, but they do have some nice weapons around Matt Ryan. I'm not sure their winning will last though, because they still have games at Philly, New Orleans, San Diego and Minnesota, and home against New Orleans, Denver, Carolina, and Tampa Bay.

21. Minnesota Vikings (3-3) (21)

Minnesota barely got by the pathetic Lions and now head to Chicago with a chance to move into first place.

22. Cleveland Browns (2-3) (25)

The Browns came up with a huge win against the Giants on Monday night and may have saved turned around their season. Derek Anderson and the offense looked a lot better then in previous weeks. They now head to Washington, where they will be looking to get back to .500.

23. Miami Dolphins (2-3) (23)

Miami had a tough loss to Houston this week, but I still like how this team is playing. They seem like they will be a competitive team all season, and will be tough to play especially if their opponents take them for granted.

24. San Francisco 49ers (2-4) (24)

The 49ers are staring 6-10 right in the face.

25. Baltimore Ravens (2-3) (20)

The Ravens got steamrolled by the Colts and Joe Flacco now has just 1 TD and 6 interceptions.

26. Houston Texans (1-4) (27)

The Texans finally got their first win, even though it wasn't easy. They have a good chance to win again in Week 7 as they host the pathetic Lions.

27. Seattle Seahawks (1-4) (26)

Seattle is in for a long season and if Matt Hassleback doesn't come back healthy they might not win another game the rest of the season.

28. Oakland Raiders (1-4) (28)

The Raiders got pummelled by the Saints and now will face the Jets at home in Week 7.

29. Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) (29)

The Bengals have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL and they will be lucky to win 3 games this season, especially if Carson Palmer is out for the year.

30. St. Louis Rams (1-4) (32)

Somehow, someway, the lowly Rams went into Washington and beat the Redskins. The Rams forced three Redskins fumbles and returned one for a touchdown, so that certainly was a big part of their victory. Even without Romo, I expect Dallas to wipe the floor with them in Week 7.

31. Kansas City Chiefs (1-4) (30)

The Chiefs will try to be the first team to knock off the undefeated Titans.

32. Detroit Lions (0-5) (31)

The Lions are so bad that their QB ran out the back of the endzone and safetied himself..
