If you missed the game last night, just like I did, then you missed out on another impressive performance by Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald torched the Carolina secondary for 8 catches, 166 yards, and a TD in Arizona's 33-13 upset win over the Carolina Pussy Cats...I mean Panthers. This performance comes on the heels of his 6 catch, 101 yards, 1 TD performance against the Atlanta Falcons in the first round of the playoffs.Fitzgerald, in his 5th season in the NFL, had a career year setting career highs in yards(1,431) and TDs(12), while pulling in 96 catches, which is pretty routine for him at this point. In his career, Fitzgerald now has 426 catches, 5,975 yards, and 46 TDs. That gives him an average of 85 catches, 1,195 yards, and 9 TDs a season. Those numbers are quite impressive and with Terrell Owens and Randy Moss most likely on the downside of their careers, other than maybe Andre Johnson, I don't see any other WR that can match up with Larry Fitzgerald at this point.
Consistency, strength, agility, quickness, reliability, and determination. Larry Fitzgerald embodies them all. He's the prototypical NFL WR and I think he might just be the best WR in the game right now.
He's outstanding and was that and more last night, but I still think Andre Johnson's the best. Still, can't go wrong with this guy and hopefully he's getting the recognition he deserves now. Good blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks appreciate that. I would not argue against anyone who says Johnson is the best, but I think these two have started to separate from the rest of the WR in the NFL. I tend to lean towards Fitzgerald because he has been more healthy throughout his career as well.

ReplyDeleteI love the playoffs because you get to see players that you haven't had the chance to watch all season. I don't think I saw that Cardinals play once on national T.V. until the playoffs.
