NFL Weekly: Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh Steelers 27 Arizona Cardinals 23 & Santonio Holmes Game Winning Touchdown Catch (Video)

Super Bowl XLIII Rundown:

Pittsburgh Steelers 27 Arizona Cardinals 23: Well, at least we got our money's worth in this one:

Capping a remarkable fourth quarter, Santonio Holmes made a brilliant catch for a 6-yard touchdown with 35 seconds remaining to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a record sixth Super Bowl title, 27-23 over the gutty Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night.

Definitely a classic finish to this one. I thought the Cardinals were going to pull it out when Larry Fitzgerald showed why he is the best WR in football and made a spectacular catch in the endzone and then looked like Jerry Rice running a slant pattern for a TD to put the Cardinals ahead 23-20. However, the Steelers offense, which was pretty much stifled by the Cardinals defense most of the game, got some big plays from Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes when they needed them most, which led to Holmes' spectacular game winning catch. Of course the big play in this game was probably James Harrison's 100 yard interception return for a TD right before half was huge, because it was at least a 10 point swing for the Cardinals and possibly 14 points. Without that TD, the Cardinals probably win this game.

I was surprised they didn't review the Kurt Warner fumble at the end of the game and I thought there were some questionable penalties on the Cardinals throughout the game, but overall I don't have any major complaints about the game. It was definitely a well played game and a highly entertaining one.

I'm a big fan of Larry Fitzgerald and it would have been nice to see him win a Super Bowl, but he still played his ass off and came up big for his team. He was 2 minutes away from being a Super Bowl legend, but instead Santonio Holmes made a couple big plays and ends up winning Super Bowl MVP. I'm happy to see that Mike Tomlin has won a Super Bowl as he becomes the second black head coach to win one and he also is the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl.

Congratulations Pittsburgh Steelers and Mike Tomlin.

  1. Steelers are a dynasty...the greatest team in NFL history....Don't worry Tom Brady...the Celtics and the Red Sox will bring Boston a championship or two since they will probably face teams from Clevealnd, the loser capitol. We in Pittsburgh love the Browns, Bengals, and Ravens as we can always count on 5-6 easy division wins per year and an always easy NFC North title. Steelrs rock....go Celtics, I always liked KG. Penguins may topple the Bruins.

  4. i think that the steelers won the game fair and square.
the fumble by kurt was indeed a fumble. the rule is that your arm must be going foward with the ball in your hand....not on top of your hand
