Michigan's Jake Long Will Be Dolphins # 1 Pick In the NFL Draft

Michigan offensive lineman Jake Long will be the # 1 pick in the NFL Draft after agreeing to a contract with the Miami Dolphins.

While this is not an exciting pick, it is probably a solid one as Long by all accounts looks like a possible 10 year starter that will help this team right away. The Dolphins offensive line has been horrible the past few years, so I can see why Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins would address that area with this pick.

Now the real fun starts because St Louis will have their choice of the defensive player they want to draft or they may even trade the pick since it was rumored they were interested in Jake Long as well. Other options for the Rams include Glenn Dorsey, Chris Long, and Vernon Gholston.

Atlanta who has the # 3 pick will probably go with either Matt Ryan or whoever is left between Dorsey and Chris Long. Then the Raiders show up at # 4 and it is anyone's guess what they will do. I don't know if they will pass on McFadden but what if Chris Long and Dorsey are both gone in this spot and they don't want McFadden? It could be possible that someone trades up here to get Matt Ryan if Atlanta doesn't pick him with the third pick in the draft. Gholston is also an option for the Raiders at # 4.

If this scenerio plays out then McFadden could fall to the Patriots at # 7, if they want him or they could trade the pick to a team that does want him:

1. Dolphins-Jake Long OL
2. Rams- Glenn Dorsey DT

3. Falcons-Chris Long DE

4.BAL, CAR, or DET trades up-Matt Ryan QB

5. Chiefs-Ryan Clady OL

6. Jets-Vernon Gholston LB/DE

7. Patriots-Darren McFadden RB

Could it happen? It's possible but do the Patriots want McFadden? I have no idea but they could probably get a decent trade from a team who wants him. If he gets past the Patriots at 7 and nobody wants to trade up then he could fall pretty far.

8. Baltimore-Willis McGahee

9. Cincinnati-Rudi Johnson

10. New Orleans - Duece McAllister & Reggie Bush

11. Buffalo-Marshawn Lynch

12. Denver- Multiple backs and usually can find quality running backs later in the draft.

13. Carolina-Deshawn Foster....this would probably be the farthest McFadden would fall. I can't see the Panthers passing him up if by some miracle he was available at this point.

Of course the Raiders will probably take him 4th and make this a moot point.
