The are plenty of possible NFL Draft storylines including the Vikings who are interested in trading for defensive end Jared Allen, which could give the Kansas City Chiefs two first round picks that they could use to move up in the draft to go after Chris Long or Vernon Gholston. Gholston has been a hot commodity in the draft and it will be interesting to see where he lands.
However, the most interesting storyline is probably who will draft Darren McFadden? I think if he is available at # 6 for the Jets, then they have to take him unless they think he is the next Lawrence Phillips. I've also heard that the Jets like Matt Ryan a great deal.
If the Jets pass on McFadden, then it is possible he could end up with the Patriots who have the # 7 pick. Wow, that would be something and it would be even more interesting if both McFadden and Gholston are available at # 7. Who would New England draft then?
Several updates on the injury front:
New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs had wrist surgery but should be ready for training camp.
Good news for Chargers fans as RB LaDainian Tomlinson expects to be 100 percent by the start of the season and Phillip Rivers says knee feels great.
In Detroit, WR Calvin Johnson is healthy and ready to put up big numbers this season after being limited by injuries last year. If Calvin Johnson is healthy the Detroit should expect big things out of him and is probably the reason why there have been rumors that WR Roy Williams is headed to Philadelphia via trade. Other trade possibilities for Williams include Dallas and Washington.
Finally, yesterday the NFL reinstated Bengals LB Odell Thurman who had been suspended because of violations of the NFL substance abuse policy.
