I haven't really done an NBA Weekly post the last few weeks because it's the middle of the NBA Playoffs and I have been posting every day on the games.
However, this week there were a couple links that I wanted to throw up here so check them out:
The Dallas Mavericks are expected to hire Rick Carisle as their coach this Friday. Carlisle had a 281-211 record and reached the conference finals twice in his six seasons with the Pistons and Pacers. He brings a defensive minded style of play to the Mavericks. I'm not sure Carisle is an upgrade from Avery Johnson and I don't expect the Mavericks to do much better next year than they did this year.
We already know Kobe Bryant is the 2008 NBA MVP but here are the All-NBA First, Second, and Third Teams:
First Team: G Kobe Bryant, G Chris Paul, F Kevin Garnett, F LeBron James, and C Dwight Howard.
Second Team: G Steve Nash, G Deron Williams, F Dirk Nowitzki, F Tim Duncan, and C Amare Stoudemire.
Third Team: G Tracy McGrady, G Manu Ginobili, F Paul Pierce, F Carlos Boozer, and C Yao Ming
The NBA is going to review the Hack-A-Shaq tactic that teams use when they foul a bad free throw shooter on purpose. They will also look into the current rules on clock reviews by the referees.
Check out this really tight post from SLAM Online on the Top 10 players never to win an NBA MVP. There's some dope videos to go along with the list, especially the Dominique Wilkins video.
Check out this post on NBA Prospect Courtney Lee, who is from the Western Kentucky team that made it to the Sweet 16 this year.
In other NBA Draft news, here is an analysis on the early entrees into this year's NBA Draft, the Top 115 draft prospects by position, and the latest NBA Mock Draft, which has two players I have followed in the past, Will Daniels and Gary Forbes, going in the second round.
