NBA Weekly

Washington Wizards: More bad news for the Wizards who are already without Gilbert Arenas for the first couple months of the season. Antawn Jamison left yesterday's preseason game with a knee injury. It is unsure how much time he will miss, but the injury did not look good. Also, Brendan Haywood has a sprained right wrist and needs to have it examined by a specialist. The injuries are already starting to pile up for the Wizards and it could cost them a chance at the playoffs this season in the improved Eastern Conference.

Bill Walker: Doc Rivers has been raving about rookie Bill Walker, who they acquired in a trade from Washington after he was picked in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft. Rivers thinks that Walker will be a great as a post guard and in transition. He also mentioned that he believes that Walker will live at the foul line, because of how he attacks the basket. I found that interesting, because I had said that he does however have Paul Pierce like strength going to the basket which I would imagine would be how he scores the majority of his points early on in the NBA, before the draft back in May. Looks like Doc see's the same thing when it comes to Walker's ability to attack the basket. Walker had his preseason debut against the 76ers last night finishing with 8 points and 2 rebounds and let me tell you he definitely attacked the basket when he dunked on Theo Ratliff. It was nice of Walker to throw one down on Ratliff last night, because I had actually written this about him BEFORE his dunk, then he just gave us the visual to prove it.

Memphis Grizzlies: Speaking of dunks, the Memphis Grizzlies might suck this year, but even if they do then they still have three of the most exciting players and dunkers in the league. With Rudy Gay, Hakim Warrick, and O.J. Mayo on the same roster, you can expect a ton of highlight reel dunks from this team. They might be the three best dunkers on any team in the league. Rudy Gay just recently dunked on Brent Barry in the preseason, O.J. Mayo threw down a thunderous dunk on Hilton Armstrong in the preseason, and Hakim Warrick has a handful of monster dunks throughout his career. Should be an exciting team to watch for the fans in Memphis.

Other NBA News:

- The Denver Nuggets reportedly traded Steven Hunter and Chucky Atkins to the Indiana Pacers for PG Jamaal Tinsley, but they are currently denying that they have traded for Tinsley. Tinsley has basically been exiled from the Pacers and is not even allowed near the team.

- After a long offseason of rumors, Ben Gordon finally resigned with the Chicago Bulls.

- The Miami Heat ended up signing PG Shaun Livingston even after Pat Riley had said the team no longer had any interest. Hopefully Shaun will make the team and be able to contribute this season.

- Juwan Howard is back with the Denver Nuggets and is trying to make the team, because he does not have a contract.

- Knicks forward Jared Jeffries is going to miss 6-8 weeks with a fractured left fibula.

- Elgin Baylor is being replaced by head coach Mike Dunleavy as VP of basketball operations for the LA Clippers. Dunleavy now has control of the GM position and head coaching position. In most cases, when the coach is also the GM things usually don't work out too well.

- J.J. Reddick had his option picked up by the Orlando Magic and may actually see some playing time this season. Reddick has been on the bench for most of his first two seasons.
